Abercrombie’s recollection, frae the Christmas Elves tae the vaults beneath the mountains.

Round Two — The Christmas Elves

Our second bout was against the so‑called Christmas Elves — bright colours, smug grins, and magic that sparkled like frostbite ❄️🧝‍♂️.

The fight began fast —
their caster enchanted a compatriot, and the favour was returned.
I lined up my shot… but dinnae connect.
My second bolt struck a shield‑like flare that shimmered around him ✨🛡️.

Kaz Falls

Their ranger loosed two vicious shots —
Kaz went doon hard, hittin’ the sand wi’ a thud 💥🩸.

Their swordsman, struck by Ryn’s magic, closed the distance in a heartbeat.
He was in my face before I could blink.
I took two heavy hits, bloodied but still standin’, teeth grit and ready tae return the favour 💢.

Turning the Tide

Rudy lunged at the swordsman, blades flashin’ 🔪.
Throsh slowed their wizard, his magic thick as syrup in the air 🎶🌀.

I fired point‑blank — twice —
and this time my bolts found their mark 🎯🎯.

Volleys were traded back and forth —
steel, spells, and grit.

But in the end, we emerged victorious.
Barely… but victory’s victory.

A Draught for the Wounded

I remembered the 13 vials o’ healing draught we’d taken from Prospect.
I downed a few, feelin’ the warmth spread through my veins 🧪🔥.

Back to the Reception Hall

As the overall victors, we were led back tae the grand reception hall tae await our “prize” 🏰🍷.

While we waited, we were given a history lesson
one that chilled the blood more than any blade.

The Unification War

Long ago, Orcs and Goblins dinnae fight each other as they do now.
They unified, marchin’ against the other races —
and allied themselves wi’ what we now know tae be the Ratmen 🐀⚔️.

An axis o’ evil, if ye will.

In response, we unified —
Humans, Elves, and Dwarves —
form in’ the Triumvirate.

Each race built atop a vault:

  • Mount Druitt — Dwarven home ⛰️
  • Rooty Hill — ancestral Elven lands 🌲
  • Quellburn — the human seat at the tail o’ the Blue Mountains 🏞️

These vaults hold secrets, weapons, histories…
and dangers.

We are tae explore them.

I still need a Rosetta Stone o’ sorts —
something tae help decipher the runes and glyphs we’ll face.

The Rewards

We were rewarded handsomely — each o’ us granted a relic worthy o’ the task ahead.

Abercrombie — Boots of the Skirmisher 👢

If ye move 20ft or more on your turn, gain +2 AC until your next turn.
When makin’ a ranged attack, ye gain flanking (+2 attack) if an ally is within 5ft o’ the target and directly opposite you.

Throsh — Ring of Greater Inspiration 💍🎶

When usin’ Bardic Inspiration, allies within 5ft o’ the target also gain the inspiration.

Ryn — Badge of the Tinkerer 🔧

As a free action, change your armour model (Dreadnought, Guardian, Infiltrator) for 10 minutes.
Uses per day = proficiency modifier.

Kaz — Torque of Taunting 🐂

4 charges.
Bonus action: force enemies within 30ft tae make an INT save (DC = 8 + STR mod + Prof).
On a fail, they must spend their next turn movin’ tae attack you in melee.
Regains d3+1 charges at dawn.

Rudy — Ring of the Torrent 🌊🔪

When usin’ Psychic Blades at range, if the damage die is even, the blade leaps tae another target within 30ft.
Can leap half proficiency bonus times (round down).

Sergei — Tattoo of Inner Focus 🌀

When expending a focus point, roll 1d8 + half proficiency bonus.
If the result is 8+, regain the focus point.
