Date: 22–27 August 2025
Chronicle Day: Day 146–151
Abercrombie’s recollection, frae the thunder’s wrath tae the eyes that gleam in the dark.
Lithgow and the Wilderbeast
We were about an hour from Lithgow when the driver told us tae speak wi’ the ticketmaster.
Handin’ over our old tokens, we received new ones — electrum‑plated, wi’ topaz eyes set intae the dwarven face 🪙✨.
These secured our travel and lodgin’ throughout the realm.
Ryn made an entry in the bestiary:
the Wilderbeast — horns aplenty, noise‑sensitive, egg‑layin’, reptilian.
Throsh provided the illustrations 🎨.
We added tae the Ratfolk entry as well:
their cursed skin‑flayin’ ability 🐀⚠️.
Along the River
The ferry tae Quellburn was not in port, so we bought rations and travelled on foot along the river until dusk 🌒.
Camp was made.
Watches
- Ryn + Rudy
- Abe + Kaz
- Throsh + Sergei
Sergei approached Kaz after camp was set.
Throsh and I deepened Rudy’s fire pit tae hide the flame 🔥🕳️.
Then came the Krav Maga bout —
two men enter, one leaves.
Kaz won, earnin’ Sergei’s respect 🥋💥.
Ryn set his alarm so Kaz couldnae trigger it this time 😏.
Only the second watch heard howls across the river 🐺.
Day 147 — The Storm Breaks
The sky grew dark and heavy.
By midday, lightning flashed in the distance ⚡.
By afternoon, it was closer.
By camp time, the rain was teemin’ doon, lightning strikin’ overhead.
We sought shelter under a thick canopy and a hollow tree…
but the storm had other plans.
Kaz was struck by lightning ⚡🔥.
Ryn was struck next.
Throsh found an old stone building — a temple or church — abandoned but standin’ firm 🏛️.
Rudy and I were both struck as well — he was usin’ the bottom o’ my cloak as shelter when the bolt hit ⚡🧥.
Inside, the wood was rottin’, but the structure held.
A raised dais, a pulpit, and a stained glass window of a holy warrior fightin’ shadowy figures remained.
Then lightning struck the window —
it shattered, and a dark shape took its place before fallin’ tae the floor in shards 💥🪟.
The shadows rose, twistin’ intae quadrupedal beasts.
Battle in the Temple
Sergei struck the left beast 💥.
Kaz followed wi’ a heavy blow.
I swung and missed 😤.
Ryn seemed tae clone himself — three o’ him now 🧍🧍🧍.
Rudy grabbed a shard o’ glass and wielded it like a dagger 💎🔪.
The beast on the right recoiled —
the glass hurt it.
Rudy shouted: “USE THE GLASS!”
Throsh hurled a shard, woundin’ it further.
Kaz slew the left beast.
We all struck the last until they boiled, bubbled, and burst intae rays o’ light ✨.

All passed quietly.
The storm faded overnight 🌤️.
Days 148–150 — The Long March
Travel was uneventful.
On Day 149, we spotted a ferry headin’ toward Lithgow.
The captain shouted frae the open bridge that if we kept movin’, they’d pick us up on their return tae Quellburn — three days, give or take 🚢.
Day 150 passed without incident.
Day 151 — Aboard the Ferry
We were picked up by the ferry at last 🚢.
Rudy whittled 🪵.
I studied the runes, comparin’ Throsh’s copies tae modern dwarvish —
his versions more ornate, but recognisably kin 🪨🔤.

Second watch heard a wolf howl southward 🐺.
Third watch saw green reflections —
eyes in the darkness, drawin’ closer 👀🌑
