Around the Table

The Rune Crew — and the folk rollin’ the dice behind them.

Every saga has two layers:
the one lived in vaults, taverns, and dragon lairs…
and the one lived around the table, with dice, snacks, and questionable decisions.

Current Party Level: All active characters are Level 6.

Here’s who’s who.

The Current Company

Kaz

Species: Goliath (bald)
Class/Role: Barbarian, frontline brute, professional headbutter
Notes: Arena‑born, trident‑thrower, and the one you want between you and anything with too many teeth.

Sergei

Species: Goliath (sasquatch‑like, shaggy)
Class/Role: Monk, acrobat, chaos missile
Notes: Falls 30 feet, punches dragons, communicates mostly in movement and violence.

Ryn

Species: Mountain Dwarf
Class/Role: Artificer, arcane tinkerer, experimental engineer
Notes:

  • Brother to Abercrombie and Glynn
  • Rune‑crafter, gadgeteer, and serial pressure‑plate activator
  • If it clicks, hums, or glows, he’s already halfway through takin’ it apart

Rudy

Species: Halfling
Class/Role: Soulknife (psychic rogue‑variant), dagger‑slinger, stealth specialist
First Appeared: Session 4
Notes: Finds trouble first, hits hard from the shadows, and somehow ends up with gemstones he definitely didn’t start the day with.

Throsh

Species: Lizardfolk
Class/Role: Bard, arcane support, tactical mind
Notes: Haste, Tiny Hut, and just enough dissonant whispers to make monsters rethink their life choices.

Abercrombie Whalan

Species: Mountain Dwarf
Class/Role: Ranged Fighter (Heavy Crossbow specialist), chronicler, master artisan (tannery & taxidermy)
Notes:

  • Son of Esau Whalan, grandmaster artisan of the Whalan Clan and member of the Mount Druitt Collective
  • Brother to Ryn and Glynn
  • A disciplined marksman who drops beasts before they reach the front line
  • Writes the Chronicles so it’s no’ lost tae time or ale

Glynn

Species: Mountain Dwarf
Active: Sessions 0–3
Status: Deceased
Notes:

  • Brother to Abercrombie and Ryn
  • One of the earliest companions
  • His story ends in the opening chapters, but his name remains etched in the Chronicle

Cat

Species: Tabaxi
Active: Sessions 0–3
Status: Deceased
Notes: Another early member of the Rune Crew whose tale ends in the first arc. Remembered with respect and a raised tankard.

Dart

Species: Human
Active: Sessions 5–12/13
Status: Departed (stayed behind in Prospect)
Notes: Took up the mantle after Cat, then passed the torch to Sergei.

The Voices of the World

Starting DM / GM

Guided Sessions 0–10 (possibly 0–11).
The first voice of gods, goblins, and everything in between.
Set the tone, lit the first fuse, and opened the first vault door.

Current DM / GM

Guiding Sessions 11/12 onward.
The present architect of chaos.
Keeper of traps, dragons, mimics, and consequences.

Arc I — The Early Roads (Sessions 0–3)

DM: Starting GM
Party: Abercrombie, Kaz, Ryn, Throsh, Glynn, Cat

The Rune Crew’s earliest adventures — small conflicts, first bonds, and the groundwork of the world.
Ends with the deaths of Glynn and Cat, marking the first tragedies of the Chronicle.

Arc II — The Prospect Chapter (Sessions 4–12/13)

DM: Starting GM
Party:

  • Session 4: Rudy joins
  • Session 5: Dart joins
  • Abercrombie, Kaz, Ryn, Throsh remain constant

This arc defines the mid‑campaign identity.
Ends with Dart staying behind in Prospect and Sergei joining the roster.

Arc III — The Vault of Mount Druitt (Sessions 12/13–Present)

Party: Abercrombie, Kaz, Sergei, Ryn, Rudy, Throsh

The current and most dangerous arc — automatons, conveyor halls, bull‑head mechanisms, mimic doors, wyrmlings, and ancient runes.
The Rune Crew delves deeper into dwarven history and the mysteries of the Collective.a D&D 5e journal forged in chaos, camaraderie, and the occasional lightning trap.
